The Divine Nine

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Zeta Phi Beta o Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity also known as the Divine Nine. The Divine Nine is known as nine Greek organizations founded at HBCUs by African Americans that was originally a study group and a support group to help them get through the hard and racial times. These fraternities and sororities are built on strong moral values, scholarship, honor and loyalty. A majority of the organizations were founded at Howard University, an HBCU. Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council were known for being white Greek organizations in their earlier years wouldn't allow African Americans to pledge their fraternity or sorority. Though you can be any race to pledge any of the Divine Nine fraternities or sororities a majority of those who pledge are African American.
